Week 23.5 January 03-07, 2019 Guerrero del Gastralgia

Hey Everyone,

So, these past few days have been super fun-ish........ let’s just say I have tried a lot of new foods.  So, we have been contacting a lot here in Guerrero, and we finally decided to contact this taco stand in the town center, literally the only taco stand. We bought tomatoes and decided to give them to him, he kindly accepted them and asked if we wanted some tacos, I said no but my companion said yes and so we ate some tacos, made of fat. They were good, but I knew they were not good for my health...hahha. He is super awesome but when we went to his house to teach him and his family, he was super defensive and really blocked the spirit. Then, we also went to a comida with a member and her husband made me try pansita, a Mexican dish consisting of meat cooked inside of intestines inside of the stomach of said animal. It was seasoned great, but you could feel the rugae (the wavy lining of the stomach) and it was really hard to choke down, even for my companion whose Latino! Here is a picture for your enjoyment.

But yeah so these past few days I have been waking up in the night with super strong stomach aches and headaches so yesterday I actually missed church and slept. I hope you all enjoyed your first 2 hours of church.  I am excited to try it next week. Feeling a lot better now but yeah it was kinda chafa (crappy).
On that note, we have a super awesome family that we have started teaching. They lived in Kansas for 10 or more years then moved back to Mexico. Their daughter, Joseline is 12 years old and has been coming to church and is really making a lot of progress. Her parents are both progressing but at a slower pace. We are really hoping that they will be able to get baptized and make covenants with our Heavenly Father. When we gave the mother a Book of Mormon, she was so excited because she had only seen them in English back in Kansas two or so years. They are a golden family, they just have a hard time coming to church. We taught them the plan of salvation and the restoration and it went super great. It is so good to see this family progress. Please pray for them. (Javier, Rosio, Joseline, and Joseph, La familia Peña)

Week 19 December 4-10 Training Tr

HOLA TODOS!
This week has been super fun and crazy we focused a lot on contacting because all our seguros (secure contacts) have been baptized so yeah.... But yay for Guerrero. Those two baptisms broke a two-year streak of no baptisms in Guerrero. It has been super strange doing all the reporting because, first of all, I have always watched my previous companion but have never done it myself. I have four hermanas (sisters) in my district and they are all super chido (cool)!  It has also been super strange going from trainee to trainer, but I feel like I have been able to Help Elder Zacarias a ton. The first day we started to contact in a part of our area that we had never contacted before and got 12 Nuevos (new contacts) it was super awesome. Our last 10 contacts were super bad, my companion got some of the worst rejections that I have seen on the mission.  But this week has been super great and Elder Zacarias is so awesome.
I also had a really frustrating moment on Saturday. We were contacting in Santa Cruz a Colonia de Guerrero and we - before we even said anything we were invited into this man’s house and he asked us to teach him what we believed. We taught him the restoration and he really liked what he was hearing. He asked great questions and appeared almost a golden investigator. We explained that the way he could come to know if this was all true was to pray to our Heavenly Father. This question bothered him and made him afraid to know the truth. He literally told us he liked hearing about other religions but now no longer wanted to find more because he was afraid God would be mad with him and that he would have to compromises with God to act on what he learned. He said he wanted to stick his head in the sand and hide from what we were saying. This honestly made me so sad and reminded me of the people of Moses when he put a serpent on the cross and all the people had to do was look to it to be healed. But some people didn´t the same thing happened with this man. He failed to have the faith to believe. I am so grateful to have the faith to ask God anything and have no fear that he will answer with gladness, just because I am asking. I know our Heavenly Father loves each one of His children and only hopes that we can have the faith to follow Him. Just follow Him.
Love you all thanks for all the love support and the Christmas scriptures!

Week 16 November 13-19, 2018 Cloud 9

HEY EVERYBODY!!

This week has been super awesome. I have a ton of pictures, but I can’t upload them until I find another computer to accept the chip... But anyways we have been working super hard in Guerrero. We actually were able to teach a lot and we have a baptism planned for this Saturday! The boy’s name is Bryan. He is eleven years old and has actually been attending in another ward adjacent to us.  He has assisted since he was a little boy with his aunts and grandma. We were honestly led by the spirit to find this boy. For some reason (the spirit) we felt the need to go down this road that honestly is a trail that looks like no one has ever been on. We passed by this lady holding her 2-month-old baby and she invited us in and we talked about what we believe in our church. She cut us off and said I know, I go in Santiago. And we were like whaaaaaa? Her back yard literally is across the street from the capilla (chapel) here in Guerrero. She then asked us to prepare her son for baptism. We are super excited to help him in the process to be baptized! He will be the first convert baptism in the past two years for this area!

We have a few more investigators ready for baptism. They only need to attend a few more times and hopefully make it to the chapel before this next transfer. We currently have 15 people we are teaching, and we have grown a lot from opening an area that has been closed for more than half a year. One of our most promising investigators is Fernando. He is a twenty-two-year-old man that does construction for hire. He is super amazing and has a strong testimony of our Savior, we just need to get him to attend. In one of the lessons we had with him, he ended with a prayer. In the prayer he said something that melted my heart and re-invigorated my purpose here in my mind. To bring others unto Christ. He talked about how he was able to feel something from the lessons we had taught him and that he was so grateful for it. It was an absolutely amazing experience.

This past week was one of the coldest weeks in the history of the Mexico Pachuca mission. It got below zero here (c) and there was actually snow in several areas here on the mission. We could even see our breath inside the apartment. We also had eight-inch icicles outside our house. it was super funny there were even icicles on the cactuses. The outdoor lock on the chapel was even frozen shut and we had to break through ice to open the gate. It was super cold but was also an awesome adventure. Fog covered us on every side and we couldn´t see anything for few days. It was awesome. Thankfully the members were super kind and gave us gloves and hats to help us stay warm!

We also found another awesome family named Jimenez Almazan. They are a family of five with the oldest 16, 13, and 6 months. Their children are super receptive and like to hear our message. I really hope we can help them progress more fully to baptism. They own a tiendita (small shop) in the center of Tecomatlan. They are super awesome.
Everything is going great here in Guerrero with Elder Cruz and me.

Love you ALL,

Elder Snow
