Hey Everyone,
So, these past few weeks have been super fun, full of hard work and awesome. The hermanas in our district have not been doing their contacts like they should. So, they made a deal with me that if they did 17 daily contacts, they could paint my hair black. Long story short, they went from doing 2 or 3 contacts daily to getting exactly 17 contacts every day. I made the deal, so they painted my hair yesterday and it turned out very bad. I looked like a vampire hahaha. I hope you enjoy the photos.
On Friday, we went to San Agustine and I was able to interview Marian for her baptism on Saturday. She is super awesome and after the interview asked if I would do the ordinance. It was an amazing experience, especially to see her change so much since I first met her at the service project the beginning of the month of December. We also were able to try amazing tacos in San Agustine while we were waiting for the bus to Guerrero, they were so flipping gooood. We got home Friday night, woke up Saturday morning and I took the reportes de bien estar (good living reports) for the district, then immediately went to the church to clean everything and prep the font for the baptism. We also had to print of the programs and fill the font. We ran around like chickens with our heads cut off on Saturday running up and down the fetching mountain behind the chapel. It was great but a ton of work. We had a beautiful baptism for Marian, almost perfect, but had a little hitch with the water. Overall everything went great, while the baptism was finishing, our investigator Carlos who is 12 years old (niño mágico (magic kid)) was interviewed by our zone leaders. He unsurprisingly was found worthy to be baptized the following day (Sunday) at 7:30 in the am. So, we went again to the bishops cyber and finished the programs for his baptism and then went home. It was a super hectic day but was great to have such an amazing spiritual experience. We then woke up at 5 am to go fill the font again for the baptism of Carlos. Carlos is super great, we met him last Sunday and found that he had been coming to church for the past few years with a family, but wasn´t baptized yet. We were able to teach him all the lessons and help him progress a ton all the way to him being able to be baptized. He had a great baptism and had the biggest smile I have ever seen on a kid’s face. It was really awesome to see his grandpa baptize him.
So, in all the chaos of running around for the baptisms, we accidentally left our phone in the bishops cyber. After the baptism, before church, we went up to the cyber to see if the bishop could open the cyber for us. He wasn´t there so we had to go to the other chapel and he was in an interview, so we couldn't get the keys. We went over the mountain to the other side of the chapel to go confirm Carlos in sacrament meeting. After church we went to the other chapel to get the keys from the bishop and found out that he had left his keys in his cousins’ car and wouldn't be able to get them until Tuesday. (3 days later) So we were pretty frustrated because we need our phone for la obra misional. As we passed by the bishops cyber, I felt we should at least try to make sure we know that it is in the cyber. When we got to the cyber, we found that window was unlocked, but every window here in Mexico has bars over the window so we had to get creative. Outside of the cyber were some blocks we tried stacking to reach the window, but it was too wobbly, then we found bricks and a ladder that we placed under the window to get closer to window. Once we got up to the window, I couldn't reach the phone, we needed some more creativity, I first tried to use tape on a broom to pick up the phone, it didn't work. I then tried to tie a tin rusted lunch box tied to the stick, but the box fell off inside the cyber. I then found a plastic bottle, tied a fork on the end of stick then stuck the bottle over it and cut it with a rusty razorblade to make it open and close like a mouth. The entire time my companion kept saying, “there’s no way, that’s not gonna work,” and the entire time I kept saying, “Con Dios todo es possible,” (With God everything is possible). And finally, it worked. I was able to scoop up the phone from outside the locked cyber with my rusty contraption and make the number reports before the deadline of 4pm. It was great, and I felt like MacGyver. With the power of God, you really can do all things.
So yeah that was my crazy week(s) FELIZ NAVIDAD Y PROSPERO AÑO LES AMO!
