Week 43: May 21-27, 2019 Pure Pachuca

Hey Everyone,                                                                               May 27, 2019

So, it has been really awesome here in Pachuca! It's nice to actually be close to civilization and have access to actual stores and things like that. The area here in Pitahayas is super cool area it is a big area and to get to all the citas it is necessary to use the bike but our bikes broke so yeah. The area is super cool, the only problem is that most of the area are private neighborhoods with no access to the people who we are here to serve and teach. IT is a really cool area and has a lot of cool investigators.
Recently the previous Elders were able to baptize a woman named Argentina. Argentina is a single mother of 3 children and a set of 12-year-old twin girls that were also baptized. Before the Baptism she had the horrible habit of smoking and gave it up to be baptized. Argentina is a wonderful person who is trying to change her life and follow God, but this past Wednesday we received a call from her telling us that all the stresses of life and the fact that she had recently lost her job and that she went to the store bought a single cigarette, (because that is what they do here) smoked one puff and through it to the ground. We visited her at 10:30 (past our bedtime we received permission) with our mission leader and were able to talk to her and give her council.  we gave her words of encouragement but condoned the mistake. Through tears she testified to us of her desire to change and be better!! After we talked and made plans to talk with the bishop, we invited Argentina to pray to our heavenly father. Through Tears, she prayed, one of the most heartfelt and sincere prayers, for help and guidance for our heavenly father. It was truly beautiful. I know that we can talk with our heavenly father anytime, anyplace, and anywhere. Talk to him. He is here for you.

LOVE YOU ALL

Love you,
Elder Snow

Week 42: May 14-20, 2019 Pitahayas 2

Hey Everyone,                                                                                 May 20, 2019

So, this past weekend was a blast and full of expected and unexpected events! On Friday morning Elder Vasquez and I learned that we would be closing our area for this cycle and that two more new Elders would be coming! This was really sad for me because I really have loved the ward that I have been in, the bishop and the other members are really amazing and really support the mission work! Especially since we have had so much success here and have a few people with baptismal dates, thankfully two other elders will take our place this Monday.  So, returning home Friday night we cleaned the home and then we went to bed. At 2:30 in the morning, our Carbon monoxide Alarm went off, I groggily got out of bed and we grabbed the alarm and left the apartment. So, our alarms are dual for smoke and CO, so we wanted to check which one it was. (The way you differentiate is by the number of repeating beeps) We realized it was the Smoke Alarm. But there was no smoke in the air. So, we continued to call our President and talk to him and he told us that it was just malfunctioning, so we just needed to get the alarm to stop. Through all the chaos, the barrio Policeman came, and a bunch of dogs started barking, It was great we couldn't figure out how to turn off the alarm and we finally just decided to play James Bond and cut the wires on the first try I disarmed the screeching alarm. We finally went back to sleep but there is just a small laugh to brighten your day.
Yesterday was so crazy we said goodbye to a lot of the members in Actopan and were able to have a Baptism for Isaac! It was a really cool experience to have him be baptized. In the night time, we had a family home evening with the bishop and his family, Emiliano and Rocio, and another family that we hope will soon be sealed in the temple. We had a really good time and were able to have a great evening and Goodbye. It was really sad to leave Emiliano, but today I was able to treasure the sweet moment of having Emiliano pass me the sacrament. This truly is marvelous, this truly is the work of God.
After the sweet goodbye, we still had to pack and clean the house. In leaving the families we remembered that there were 20 or so stuff animals from the previous Elders that they had somehow accumulated in the house. So, we diced to through them off the second floor to the children we had just taught below. It was a really fun experience and filled the children with Joy. It was a great way to pay back what the ward had done for us!
Today I received cambios, My new companion is Elder Cevallos he is from Ecuador and is super awesome, he has three months in the mission and we are serving together in Pitahayas 2!

Love,
Elder Snow
