Hey
Everyone
So,
this past week has been so much fun, Elder Palmer and I have been able to help
a lot of people come closer to God.
On Saturday, we had a
great idea to go contact the local pantheon. For those of you who do not know
in Mexico on November 1st and 2nd, a holiday called Dia de Los Muertos is
celebrated. Many Catholics celebrate this day in honor of their ancestors that
have passed away. They believe that an altar calls their loved ones home to
celebrate this time with them. This gave us the bright idea to go contact
families more about family history. So, Saturday night armed with my knowledge
of the holiday from the movie Coco and 7th-grade Spanish class on dia de los
muertos, we grabbed a taxi to take us to the pantheon. Not only was no
one there, but the graveyard or pantheon was also closed. We took some pictures and
meanwhile someone had decided to call the cops on us. We saw a car approaching
us and then soon realized it was the PolicĂa. They came up to us and told us to
open our bags. They quickly performed a search of us and inquired us of our
purposes of being there. They searched our bags for drugs but instead found
folletos of Jesus Christ, Scriptures, and plan of salvation maps. Just a little
worried we were almost about to get arrested but they gave us a warning that we
should be careful because there are evil spirits in graveyards. So we learned a
valuable lesson that families visit the graveyard only on the first of
November.
On Sunday we were able
to baptize 3 amazing kids. They are children of a less active member and
all wanted to follow Christ. We had the amazing privilege to baptize them.
While I was baptizing the last child, he couldn't figure out how to bend
his knees. The ordinance was performed three times because his foot kept
popping out of the water. On the third try, I stepped on his feet so that they
would stay there. Only this time he went stiff as a plank. Usually, you have to
help the person go down slowly and hold their back. With Vyron, I had to use
both hands to push him under. He went completely under after two heaves, it
honestly looked like I was drowning him. After the ordinance, he asked me if he
had a lot of sins. I died of laughter. Honestly, he was so happy to be baptized
it didn't matter he almost drowned. It was honestly such a beautiful
service. I know that baptism is such an important step to follow God, and we
are so blessed to be able to have the restored priesthood to perform such
ordinances. God loves you so much, remember to thank him!
LOVE YOU ALL.
ELDER SNOW
