So,
this week has been a great week! Over and Over again I have felt the Saviors
love testify to me that He is there and that this is His work. Somedays it
feels like the world is against you, for whatever reason, it just does! This
past Tuesday kind of felt like one of those days, there are a lot of less
active or inactive members here and around my area, seeing the lack of faith in
these members can sometimes be crushing. Questions come to mind like Can I even
make a difference? Will the people I baptize remain active after I am gone?
These doubts filled questions can really destroy the desire to do things. Even
though people lose their faith they forget their covenants, there is
hope. When I was thinking it couldn't get worse it did. The sidewalk I
was on while riding the bike had narrowed to only a few inches, so I dropped
down onto the road to also avoid riding into a post that blocked clear passage.
As I did this I had just enough time to understand what was happing but not to
change the outcome. My tire entered in to the widest grate gutter thing in the
world. As my tire entered the gutter it
sent me flying. I only ended up, scraping my elbows and bruising them pretty
good, but as I lied for five seconds there in the dirty Mexican street a
scripture came to mind:
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them
their aweakness. I bgive unto
men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is
sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble
themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak things
become strong unto them.
28 Behold, I will show
unto the Gentiles their weakness, and I will show unto them that afaith, hope and charity bringeth unto me—the fountain
of all brighteousness.
Okay maybe it didn’t come to me in the moment but nonetheless, it
did come to my mind. I truly came to, partly because of this experience, came
to know that my Heavenly Father Loves me SO MUCH. He loves YOU SO much. He
truly knows our pains, fears, hopes, and desires. This is why He sent His son
to help us get back on our feet. No matter where we are in our lives it doesn't
matter if we are literally lying in the gutter. Our Heavenly Father, and Our
Savior are HERE FOR US. This is the message of the Restoration, this is the
message of the Plan of Salvation, This is the reason we have the Gospel of
Jesus Christ and the Commandments, this is why the Church of Jesus Christ
EXISTS.
Even though some may not choose to continue following him. We
Can. We can follow him, we can invite others to follow him. To help them know
the joy, the peace that we feel. To remind them of the peace that is in Christ.
Not all may accept this message but we can make sure we give them the chance to
hear, to be reminded. I know that He is there for us, but we must reach
out to Him, we must spiritually stretch towards Him. I know that God loves us.
Reach out to Him, Reach out to others, be His hands.
